The other day I was looking for a canvas I could use for a new painting I had in mind. After filing through piles of old paintings for what seemed to be hours I ran into this Rothko I couldn’t remember of having. Well, I said to myself, I’ll take this, especially for it immediately began to spread this slightly depressing atmosphere Bacon once spoke of.
